We are the professional home for optometrists across Haryana — a community of students, practitioners, and researchers advancing vision science through education, clinical practice, and shared academic work.
Through monthly clinical meetings, the Annual Conference, and Dristi Mitigya, our journal, we bring the state's optometry fraternity together to learn from each other and raise the standard of eye care.

Years of Impact
Everything the Society does is built around six commitments — to our students, our patients, our research, our profession, and the communities we serve.
We work to raise the academic standard of optometry across Haryana — from supporting the shift toward a full four-year Bachelor's degree and unified nomenclature for the profession, to running monthly clinical meetings, hands-on workshops, and CE-credit programs so every member, student, and paraoptometric worker keeps pace with a fast-changing field.
The Society encourages members to pursue original clinical and academic research in vision science rather than practice in isolation. We give that work a home in Dristi Mitigya, our peer-reviewed journal, and support faculty and students with mentorship, paper-presentation opportunities at our Annual Conference, and guidance through the publication process.
We promote evidence-based, patient-first clinical protocols and a shared code of professional conduct, so care quality stays consistent whether a member practices in a city hospital or a small-town clinic. This includes maintaining a member register, encouraging comprehensive eye examinations as the norm, and keeping practitioners current with modern instrumentation and technique.
Uncorrected refractive error and preventable blindness remain widespread in India, and optometrists are often the only eye-care providers a community has access to. We organize vision-screening camps, school eye-health drives, and public awareness campaigns across Haryana to catch problems early and extend basic eye care to underserved and rural populations.
We represent optometrists' interests before state and central government bodies — pressing for optometry to be recognized and regulated as an independent healthcare profession, for fair wages and job security for members employed in hospitals and private practice, and for a statutory optometry council rather than informal or unrelated regulatory routes.
Beyond clinical work, the Society exists to connect its members — through a members' directory, an active online community, job-seeking assistance for students and new graduates, and career-coaching support. Regular meetings and the Annual Conference give members from across the state a chance to learn from each other and build lasting professional relationships.
Stay up to date with conferences, journal deadlines, meetings, and society notices.
This year's conference will be held in Panchkula, featuring workshops on myopia management, low vision care, and contact lens fitting.
Members are invited to submit original research, case studies, and clinical reviews for the upcoming issue. Deadline: 15 August 2026.
